Loftleidir Icelandic

Purpose of Company

Loftleidir Icelandic is a capacity solution company for the international airline and tour operator industries.

History

Loftleidir Icelandic was formed as a subsidiary of Icelandair Group in 2002 but the international charter operations have been a part of the general operation of the airline and it’s predecessors for decades. In June 2006 Loftleidir Icelandic acquired LatCharter Airlines. Loftleidir Icelandic has developed from being a marketing vehicle operating in the international ACMI (Aircraft Crew Maintenance and Insurance) and charter markets, to become a capacity solution provider, thus expanding it’s horizon above the aircraft types traditionally operated under the Icelandair AOC. The Managing Director of Loftleidir Icelandic is Guðni Hreinsson.

Operation

The company currently operates dry, wet lease and charter operations out of Iceland, Italy, Israel, USA and has recently entered new markets in the South-American and Caribbean region with contracts with scheduled airlines in both Cuba and Venezuela. Furthermore Loftleidir Icelandic has established itself as a leading VIP operator serving two of the most prestigious VIP operators in the US, Starquest and A&K, by operating first class flights around the world.

Latcharter Airlines operates under its own Latvian AOC. Latvia is an JAA approved country and the AOC is thus in compliance with JAR OPS 1.
