The senior management team under the leadership of CEO Björgólfur Jóhannsson comprises three Vice Presidents. All have significant management experience in their field of operations.

Björgólfur Jóhannsson, President and CEO Icelandair Group
Before joining Icelandair Group Björgólfur was the CEO of Icelandic Group from March 2006. He became the CEO of Síldarvinnslan in 1999 and served as the Director of Innovation and Development at Samherji from 1996. From 1992-1996 Björgólfur was the CFO of UA in Akureyri, having worked as a chartered accountant for two auditing firms from 1980. Björgólfur has served as the Chairman of the Board of the Federation of Icelandic Fishing Vessel Owners since 2003. He graduated with a degree in business administration from the University of Iceland in 1983 and became a chartered accountant in 1985.

Hlynur Elísson, CFO
Hlynur started his career within Icelandair Group at Icelandair Domestic in 1995 as Director of Finance and then Air Iceland in 1997. He was appointed Icelandair Senior Vice President of Finance and Resource Management on April 1st 2005. In March 2006 he became Icelandair Group’s Chief Financial Officer. Hlynur has a B.Sc. in Business from Rockford College, Illinois.

Sigþór Einarsson, Deputy CEO
Sigþór joined Icelandair Group in April 1996, first in positions related to strategic planning. He was then appointed as Director of Resource Management in May 1999. Here he assumed responsibility for management of all flight related cost, including aircraft leasing, station management and fuel purchasing. Sigþór was appointed Managing Director of Loftleidir Icelandic since it's foundation on January 1st 2002, Chief of Operations of Icelandair Group in March 2006 and deputy CEO of the Group in May 2008. He holds a M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and Management (Diplom Wirtschaftsingeneur) from the University in Darmstadt, Germany.

Guðjón Arngrímsson, Vice President of Corporate Communications
Guðjón joined Icelandair in 2000 as Manager Public Relations and company spokesman. He became Director Corporate Communications at Icelandair Group in 2003. He studied English and Literature at the University of Iceland.
