Finnur Ingólfsson, Chairman

Finnur Ingolfsson has a wide experience, both from a corporate and governmental perspective. From 1991 to 2000 he was a member of the Parliament and from 1995-1999 a Minister of Industry and Commerce. After retiring from the Parliament he took on the role of a Director of the Central Bank of Iceland. As a part of his governmental career he has also been a member of various governmental committees and councils, including the Board of the Financial Supervisory Authority.

From 2002 to 2006 he was the CEO of VÍS, one of the three largest Icelandic Insurance companies. His corporate experience furthermore includes various board positions. This includes among other Chairman of the Board of Directors of VÍS from 2005 to 2006, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Flutningar EHF, a logistics company, from 2002 to 2006 and from 2004 he has been a Member of the Board of Directors of KB Bank.  

Finnur is 52 years old, married with three children aged 17-26. He has a degree in business administration from the University of Iceland.

Ómar Benediksson, Vice Chairman

Omar Benediktsson has a long history in the tourism industry.  From 1982 to 1986 he was working for the Iceland Tourist Board and the Icelandic Tourism Fund.  In 1984 he established a specialized tour operator in Germany and expanded the company into neighbor countries.  He founded several other companies in the tourism industry early 90´s but sold the last company in 1997.
 
In 1991 he got involved in the aviation industry when he together with other two parties started Islandsflug.  In 1997 he became the CEO of Islandsflug which merged with Air Atlanta in 2004 where he became the CEO of the joint company.  He left Air Atlanta just before the mother company Avion Group went public. When the Group was listed his company Blue Sky Transport Holding SA was one of the ten largest shareholders.

Omar is 47 years old, married with four kids.

The Board of Directors of Icelandair Group have the supreme authority in the company’s general affairs between shareholders’ meetings. Only the company’s Board of Directors can grant power of procuration. The Board of Directors appoint the CEO of Icelandair Group.
