LatCharter, a Latvian charter airline owned by Loftleidir-Icelandic, has reached an agreement with the Maltese national carrier, Air Malta, to lease one Airbus A320 aircraft for two years.

The Airbus aircraft, which was previously operated by Air Canada, is the third one added to LatCharter fleet this year.  With this new agreement five jets will be in operation by LatCharter Airlines.  Latcharter leases the aircraft from the US aircraft leasing company KJ Aviation

Loftleidir acquired LatCharter in 2006.  At the time LatCharter operated two Airbus aircraft. With the signing of this latest agreement the LatCharter fleet  has increased by 150%. LatCharter has laid plans further fleet expansion in the near future.  Valery Litanski the operations managers at LatCharter has expressed his delight at the smooth incorporations of the new jets.

Sigþór Einarsson the chairman of the board of LatCharter and Loftleidir-Icelandic said: "This latest agreement is in line with our targets for the expansion of our market through the acquisition of LatCharter. Our main objective with the LatCharter acquisition was to increase the products and services offered by Loftleidir-Icelandic in the international aircraft trading field. It’s a pleasant surprise for us how quickly we are seeing results from that strategy. Something that’s happening faster than we originally anticipated."
 
Air Malta, the national carrier was established in 1973 and is currently operating 13 aircraft. The route network of Air Malta covers Western and Southern Europe, as well as, the North African coast.
